About the university
Established
in 1923, TIIAME National Research University (The Tashkent Institute of
Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers) is Uzbekistan's premier
institution for engineering, agriculture, and environmental sciences.
Designated as a national research university by Presidential Decree in 2021,
TIIAME has evolved into a regional hub for academic excellence, technological
innovation, and global scientific cooperation. With over 100 years of academic
legacy, TIIAME plays a vital role in preparing highly qualified professionals
and advancing research to address global challenges related to water, food,
climate, and sustainability.
Mission and
Vision
TIIAME is
committed to training top-tier specialists in water management, agricultural
mechanization, digital technologies, and environmental protection. The
university aims to become a world-class research center recognized globally for
its contributions to sustainable development. Its strategic goals include
integration into the top 300 universities worldwide by 2030, expansion of
international academic exchange programs, and leadership in digital
transformation and smart agriculture in Central Asia.
Academic and
Research Excellence
The
university currently offers more than 40 bachelor's, 36 master's, and 21
doctoral programs, alongside 15 professional development courses. These
programs are aligned with European Qualification Frameworks and labor market
demands. TIIAME has been a pioneer in launching new academic departments in
digital technologies, artificial intelligence, water diplomacy, and inclusive
education. Educational innovation is reinforced through "twinning"
partnerships with top global universities such as Wageningen University (Netherlands),
Michigan State University (USA), and Colorado State University (USA).
TIIAME houses
over 24 advanced laboratories and a 70-hectare experimental training center
equipped for research in smart irrigation, soil sciences, mechatronics,
renewable energy, and precision agriculture. Research initiatives are supported
by national and international grants, with over 38 scientific projects
conducted in 2024 alone, generating significant outputs in Scopus and Web of
Science indexed journals.
The
university places special emphasis on the quality of education. One of its key
achievements is that nine academic programs have received international
accreditation from the prestigious German agency ASIIN for a period of
five years. This accreditation confirms that the programs meet European
standards, align with labor market demands, and promote continuous improvement
in the educational process. ASIIN accreditation enables graduates to obtain
internationally recognized diplomas, pursue further studies at foreign
universities, and remain competitive in the global job market. In 2025, the
university plans to have academic programs from three more faculties accredited
internationally.
Infrastructure
and Innovation
Recent years
have seen major infrastructure enhancements: two student dormitories, a digital
library, smart classrooms, IT incubation labs, and modern sports complexes. The
university has implemented AI-driven tools in educational environments and
launched Uzbekistan's first mini electric tractor and agri-drone prototypes under
its own brand.
A network of
industrial partnerships supports student innovation and employability, with
more than 25 industry-based department branches and 16 sponsored classrooms.
Over 100 students receive employer-funded scholarships annually. Furthermore,
TIIAME established a Center for Fundamental and Applied Research, engaging
Uzbek diaspora scientists and fostering cutting-edge research in AI, food
security, energy efficiency, and space technologies.
International
Recognition
TIIAME ranks
#547 globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and #1 in Uzbekistan. It
is ranked among the top 400 universities in engineering, agriculture, and
environmental sciences. TIIAME is also recognized in THE Impact Rankings and QS
Sustainability Rankings, affirming its role in global efforts for climate
adaptation and educational quality.
The
university leads more than 30 international collaborations and hosts students
and scholars from 20+ countries. In 2024, an international branch was opened in
Almaty, Kazakhstan, with upcoming plans for expansion to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
