The Status of a Teacher

In every person’s life, there are teachers, who leave a lasting mark and open the doors to their future. Such mentors hold a special and honored place. One of these outstanding educators is Ashirbek Rakhimovich Muratov, Associate Professor at "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" National Research University. Known for his knowledge, wisdom and genuine care for students, he has won the hearts of many of his learners.
The path of dedicated scholarly work has truly elevated him. Throughout his academic career, Ashirbek Rakhimovich Muratov has conducted extensive research in the fields of irrigation and land reclamation. His scientific works have been recognized not only in Uzbekistan but also internationally. Today, many of his students are successfully working across different sectors of the country.
Professor Muratov is not only a knowledgeable scientist, but also a caring mentor. He supports each student’s abilities and aspirations, imparting both professional knowledge and valuable life lessons. His lectures are rich and engaging, sparking students’ interest in their chosen fields.
Possessing qualities of wisdom and integrity, Professor Muratov is respected for his fairness, honesty, kindness, and humility. His words and actions serve as an example to his students, and his wisdom shines through in his interactions with them.
A dedicated professional, Ashirbek Rakhimovich Muratov’s life and career serve as a true school of inspiration for the younger generation. His passion for continuous learning, reading, and staying updated with scientific and technological advancements — especially in the areas of irrigation, land reclamation, water resources, and ecology demonstrates his commitment to progress. His personal library boasts a diverse collection of books in Uzbek, Russian, and English.
He actively uses modern technology and social media as tools for sharing knowledge and professional insights. On his social media platforms, Professor Muratov regularly shares updates on industry innovations, scientific publications, and conferences. Through his initiative, various seminars, conferences, and roundtable discussions have been organized at the university.
Born in 1955, he graduated from high school in 1972 and entered TIIAME the same year. In 1977, he graduated with honors as an Engineer-Mechanic specializing in “Mechanization of Hydromelioration Works.” Over the decades, he has served in various academic and administrative roles, including Dean of the Faculty of Water Management and Land Reclamation Mechanization and Associate Professor of the Department of Construction Organization and Technology.
Professor Muratov’s scientific contributions include the development and industrial implementation of innovative multi-parameter modular wave technologies for reinforced concrete structures used in irrigation systems, improving soil reclamation and water resource management across Uzbekistan and beyond, including in Ukraine, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. His leadership has contributed to significant reforms in water management, aligned with national programs such as the 2018–2019 Irrigation Development and Land Reclamation Program.
He is the author of over 200 scientific and methodological works, including 10 patents, 2 textbooks, 5 manuals, and numerous applied research recommendations. Under his supervision, several master’s theses have been successfully defended. His innovations have been implemented in multiple regions of Uzbekistan, such as Karakalpakstan, Andijan, Bukhara, Khorezm, Sirdarya and Fergana.
A recipient of the honorary title “Distinguished Teacher” (1996), Professor Muratov has represented Uzbekistan internationally, including a professional development program at California State University (USA) on “Managing Irrigation and Land Reclamation Systems under Water Scarcity”. He has also served as a high-ranking consultant for the Asian Development Bank and played a key role in major water management projects in Uzbekistan and abroad.
His more than 45 years of leadership in state-funded and contractual research projects, combined with his dedication to mentoring students and supporting community activities, exemplify his lifelong commitment to science and education.
