Summer School on Writing Articles for International Scientific Journals was held in Tashkent
11.06.2026
From June 9–11, 2026 a Summer School dedicated to writing scientific articles in the field of social sciences was held in Tashkent. The program was organized by ERGO Analytics, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” National Research University within the framework of the activities of the Social and Human Capital Laboratory.
The initiative aimed to enhance the skills of young scientists, researchers, doctoral students, and faculty members in conducting research, preparing manuscripts for international academic publications, and applying modern analytical methods.
A total of 50 participants, selected through a competitive process, took part in the three-day program. They gained knowledge of international academic standards, scientific writing methodology, data analysis techniques, the effective use of artificial intelligence tools in research, and the publication process in prestigious academic journals.
The Summer School curriculum covered topics such as selecting journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, evaluating the quality of scientific publications, identifying predatory journals, applying econometric analysis methods, and preparing manuscripts in accordance with international journal requirements.
Special attention was given to research focused on rural quality of life, human capital development, and socio-economic progress. Participants acquired practical skills necessary for producing competitive research papers for the international academic community.
The Summer School was organized in line with the ongoing reforms in science and higher education in Uzbekistan. In particular, the “Uzbekistan–2030” Strategy identifies the development of fundamental research, improvement of research quality, and strengthening the international standing of national science as key priorities.
In recent years, the international scientific activity of Uzbek researchers has increased significantly. According to data from the InCites analytical platform, since 2017, researchers from Uzbekistan have published more than 17,500 scientific articles and documents indexed in the Web of Science database. This figure considerably exceeds the 12,294 publications recorded between 1991 and 2016, reflecting the country’s growing scientific capacity.
It is worth noting that the Social and Human Capital Laboratory was established as a joint initiative of ERGO Analytics and the National Research University “TIIAME” to support the development of research quality and publication activities. During 2025–2026, the laboratory prepared more than 50 scientific articles for international journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, and organized over 100 scientific seminars and training sessions involving more than 2,000 doctoral students, students, and faculty members.
The Summer School sessions were conducted by economist and researcher Rauf Salakhodjayev, economist Bekzod Alimov, academic English specialist Iroda Saidazimova, data analysis expert Ilya Asminkin, and economist-researcher Dostonbek Eshpulatov.
This Summer School contributes to the development of a globally competitive research environment in Uzbekistan, promotes a stronger culture of academic writing among researchers, and further accelerates the integration of Uzbek scholars into the international academic community.
