Agreement was reached regarding establishing the United Nations University Central Asia Hub

A meeting was held in Dresden, Germany, between a delegation led by Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University (UNU), representatives of the UNU-FLORES Institute, and the delegation of the "TIIAME" National Research University.”
As a result of the negotiations, the parties reached an agreement to establish the United Nations University (UNU) Central Asia Hub at the "TIIAME"National Research University.
The Hub will focus on the following priority areas:
Sustainable resource management;
Land restoration and reclamation;
Climate change adaptation;
Environmental protection;
Capacity building.
The establishment of the UNU Central Asia Hub marks a significant milestone in promoting the sustainable management of water and land resources and advancing environmental sustainability across Central Asia.
The new Hub, to be based at the "TIIAME" National Research University will serve as a regional platform for scientific research, innovation, and capacity development, contributing to practical and evidence-based solutions to the region’s pressing challenges related to climate change, water resources, and environmental protection.
